Bell Labs, along with Xeroc PARC, were one of the first to pioneer the idea of sustained innovation through collaboration of diverse talent working in close physical proximity. It also showed limits of corporate bureaucracies when their leaders are not visionaries or bold enough to turn the ideas into great products.
